Sunday night at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, eight artists came together for the North Carolina Songwriters in the Round, hosted by Jason Adamo. If you’ve never been to a songwriter’s round (it was our first), the format was pretty cool. Divided into two sets, with four artists in each one, the performers took turns playing their own music, beginning each song with a story that connected the audience with the inspiration and meaning.

Growing up, I always loved staying in hotels when going on vacation. I enjoyed the novelty of visiting new places and any change of scenery I could experience. About a decade ago, I began to stay in Airbnbs instead of hotels thanks to the privacy and one-of-a-kind aspect they offer. Most of what has been covered for millennia, is about dealing with the emotions of hurt, anger, sadness, fear, depression, anxiety - along with hope, love, and letting go.
